Director

Mr. Romany is currently the President of Guardian General Insurance Limited (GGIL) and serves as a Director on many boards within the Guardian Group and other regional bodies. He was appointed to this position in 2018. Prior to this, he served as Group Chief Risk Officer for Guardian Holdings Limited. Among his many roles within the Guardian Group included a number of executive positions. Mr. Romany has over thirty (30) years of industry experience starting as a Technical Advisor at Caribbean Home Insurance Company Limited. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII).

Maxim Marquez
Vice President- Life

Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of the West Indies and an MBA from the Henley Business School. Entered into the Insurance industry in June 1992 as an agent with Guardian Life of the Caribbean and was prompted to a Unit Manager in 1997. In 2005 was recruited by Maritime Life as an Agency Manager. In 2010 he moved his agency to Algico/Met Life and was subsequently offered the position as Vice President, Regional Director of Agencies in 2013 with the Pan American Life Insurance Group.

He has won several Company and Industry Awards and is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and was the Local Chairperson for Trinidad and Tobago in 2000 and 2001. He has served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (TTAIFA) and well as the Caribbean Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (CARAIFA) where he served for two terms. In 2017 he was inducted into the TTAIFA Hall of Fame.He is responsible for the developing and managing the strategic initiatives and plans for the Agency distribution, sales and marketing in the Caribbean for 25 agencies with 5

Chris Woddhams
Director

Mr. Christopher Woodhams commenced his career in IT and was promoted to successive senior positions in Beacon and which allowed him to become more engaged in the key activities of the CEO position.

He was able to gain and today demonstrates as CEO, a solid understanding of leading governance and operational practices especially the risks associated in the Insurance industry, while actively collaborating with the Board, and Executive Team in achievement of the Company’s plans and financial goals.

Mr. Woodhams has intimate knowledge of the Insurance sector and is well known and respected throughout by senior executives within the industry, including with reinsurers.

He has also amassed relevant knowledge and experience in the critical aspects of the operations which can have significant impact upon the financial obligations and risk of the Company, especially as it relates to regulatory requirements

Jason Clarke
President

With more than fourteen years’ experience in Investment Banking and a keen understanding in Auditing and Accounting, Jason is well-known for his work in several top companies with both local and regional reach. Jason gained a reputation for a firm understanding of risk management during his tenures at Citibank (T&T) Limited and RBTT Merchant Limited. Jason completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and also has a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Industrial Management from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad.

James Camacho
Director

Mr. James Camacho joined the Senior Management Team of SagicorLife Inc. in May 2006 as the Vice President of Operations of the Trinidad Branch. He is also a Member of various Committees within the Sagicor Group of Companies.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounts and Finance and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries specializing in Pensions.

Natasha Pettier
Vice President- General

Natasha started her career in Underwriting at Maritime General Insurance Company in 1997, after which, she joined COLFIRE as a Senior Underwriter. During this period, she pursued both her Insurance and Risk Management qualifications, attaining her FCII and MIRM designations from the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Institute of Risk Management, respectively. She gained considerable experience in the specific field of Risk Management firstly as a Risk Analyst at TSTT, and then as a Risk Management Specialist at Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited (PPGPL). At TSTT she was actively involved in developing the company’s Disaster Preparedness and Business Continuity plans and was one of the representatives on the Ministry of Public Utilities’ Disaster Preparedness Committee. During her tenure at PPGPL she was the Project Manager for the company’s Enterprise Risk Management system, a pioneering effort for the entity.

Natasha then reentered the insurance industry in the capacity of Underwriting Manager at TATIL, until 2011. Continuing her journey, Natasha joined Beacon Insurance Company as Assistant Manager, Broker Services. In March 2012 she was appointed Manager, gaining responsibility for Business Development, and ensuring delivery of the underwriting needs of the Broker market. In October 2013 Natasha was appointed Vice President, Group Services and subsequently Vice President, Insurance Operations during a restructure that married both the Property & Casualty and Group Life and Health lines with oversight over the Southern Caribbean including Trinidad & Tobago.After a successful tenure at Beacon, she sought new challenges and joined the Massy United Insurance Company as Head of Underwriting and Insurance Operations. Natasha joined the Motor One team in October 2019, as Head of Underwriting and Insurance Operations and was appointed to the position of CEO/Director effective 01st March 2020.

Natasha is proud to support the insurance industry at all levels and demonstrates that by actively participating at both the TTII and ATTIC levels. She also spends time actively mentoring other members of the insurance fraternity and encourages them to pursue technical qualifications and expertise to enhance their skills and advance the insurance industry for the benefit of all stakeholders. Ms. Pettier has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), an MBA with the Heriot-Watt University, UK and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London, a qualified Member of the Institute of Risk Management, and a Health Insurance Associate. She is an accomplished Insurance and Management professional with over 20 years’ experience.

Baliram Sawh
Director

Mr. Baliram Sawh is the General Manager – General Insurance Services of the Maritime Financial Group. With over 25 years of experience in the Insurance Industry, his portfolio includes setting rates, establishing company guidelines, negotiating reinsurance treaties and underwriting select risks. He is one of a select group of persons in Trinidad who is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII). Mr. Sawh was elected to ATTIC’s Board in 2005.

Keston Howell
Director

Mr. Keston Howell was appointed to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Sagicor General Insurance Inc effective December 05, 2017. Mr. Howell has been a member of Sagicor Life Inc’s (SLI) executive management team since 2005. Recently he held the post of Executive Vice President and General Manager, SLI with responsibility for the Dutch Caribbean, (Aruba, Curacao, St Maarten) Belize and Panama. He currently serves as a Director on the Boards of Sagicor Finance Inc, Sagicor Asset Management Inc, and Sagicor Funds Inc.

His career includes key roles in the Financial Services Sector in Trinidad and Tobago where, as a member of the leadership team of RBTT Merchant Bank Limited, he served as Vice President – Risk & Control, and as an Assistant General Manager Syndication. Other appointments included senior roles at Scotiabank Trinidad & Tobago Limited and The Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Limited. He is a Past President of the Securities Dealers Association of Trinidad & Tobago.

Mr. Howell has over 18 years in the banking and insurance industry. Mr. Howell holds a B.Sc. Management Studies (Hons.) from The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. Campus, and an MBA Banking (Merit), from the University of London, London, England.

Musa Ibrahim
Director

Musa Ibrahim is currently the Managing Director of TATIL. He is ACCA certified and has specialized in the Financial Services Industry for 20 years. He also currently serves on a number of Boards such as Trinidad & Tobago Insurance Institute, Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC) where he is also Chairman of the Training & Education Arm of the IAC. Additionally, Musa is the current Chairman of the Audit Committee of Ansa Automotive. He has worked for market leading organisations in the financial sector and has held top level positions inclusive of CFO, Finance Director and Executive Director.

Samantha Saugh
Director

Samanta brings to this role a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the Life, Health and Pension business segment, making her well-suited to lead the company into its next phase of growth and innovation.

Saugh joined the Guardian Group in 2018 as vice president of finance. And in May 2022, Saugh was appointed interim group chief financial officer before being appointed permanently in the role in July 2022.

Over the last two years Samanta worked closely with the Group’s leadership team and the board to execute its clear strategy and to build on the Group’s strong financial footing.

Saugh is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration with distinction from the Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business, The University of the West Indies.

Her career, spanning over 20 years, has been predominantly in management within the financial services sector. Prior to joining the group, Samanta worked in various senior roles where her portfolio included strategy, financial and management reporting, operations, post-sales support, taxation, budgets, risk management, projects, IT and regulatory compliance spanning Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Eastern and Northern Caribbean.
